Inception
And Navigating Dream Spaces (all of them)
Cobb explains to Ariadne that in a dream, one is creating and perceiving simultaneously. By ‘taking over the creating part’ THEY [the inception team] get right in the middle of that process. *Note: Our rendered reality here and now
Ariadne creates the world of the dream. They bring the subject into that dream. And they fill it with their subconscious. *Note: Details aren’t rendered, the subject fills them in
Cobb says “You never really remember the beginning of a dream, do you? You always wind up right in the middle of what’s going on.” Ariadne says, “Well, we…” Cobb says, “Think about it, how did you get HERE, where are you right now? Stay calm.” Ariadne says, “If this is just a dream why are you…” And Cobb says, “Because it’s never just a dream is it? A face full of glass hurts like hell when you’re in it, feels real.” Arthur says, “It’s why the military developed dream sharing as a training program for soldiers to shoot and stab and strange each other and wake up.” *Note: I guess we’re in punishment here, or a training program
In a dream your mind functions quicker, so time in the real world feels more slow. 5 minutes in the real world gives an hour in the dream.
They go back in, where Cobb is the subject (subconscious mind) and Ariadne is the dreamer, she builds the world. Cobb says his subconscious populates the world, and she can literally talk to it, that’s how they extract information. She can also create something secure, like a vault, and the subject’s mind automatically fills it with information it’s trying to protect.
Ariadne says that the dream space is more about the feel of it, rather than the visuals. Ariadne messes with the physics of it, and Cobb’s says his subconscious feels that someone else is creating this world, and the people he is projecting start to turn on Ariadne. He says, “The more you change things, the quicker the projections start to converge on it - they sense the foreign nature of the dreamer, they attack like white blood cells fighting an infection.” *Note: Our wake up call from this clown world that is moving at a crazy pace
“Its my subconscious, remember I can’t control it.”
Ariadne creates an infinity loop of reflections with two mirrors and then breaks it.
Cobb says, “Never recreate places from your memory. Always imagine new places! Only use details [from what you know] a streetlamp, a phone booth, never entire areas. Because building a dream from memory is the easiest way to lose your grasp on what’s real and what is a dream.” *Note: Good tip for astral realms or sovereign escape worlds
